Condition Of PM Under Cong? No, 2019 Video Shared With False Claim

Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi leading a meeting with Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina in presence of “Prime Minister” Manmohan Singh.

Fact

A keyword search for “Manmohan Singh” “Sonia Gandhi” and “Sheikh Hasina” on Google led us to a video report by ANI, dated October 6, 2019. Carrying snippets of the viral video, it stated, “New Delhi, Oct 06 (ANI): Congress President Sonia Gandhi former prime minister Manmohan Singh met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Oct 06. Meanwhile, Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi and Anand Sharma were also present during the meeting. Prime Minister Hasina is on a 4-day visit to India.”

Further, the Congress Party had shared the viral footage on their YouTube channel on October 6, 2019 with the caption, “Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi along with Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh Met with Sheikh Hasina.”

Multiple news outlets had reported on the meeting between the Congress leaders and Sheikh Hasina in October 2019. Such reports can be seen here, here and here.

Notably, Manmohan Singh’s tenure as the Prime Minister of India ended in 2014. 

We can thus conclude that a video from 2019 has been shared to falsely show Sonia Gandhi leading a meeting with Sheikh Hasina when Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India.
