The Congress, which was in power in Delhi for 15 years from 1998 to 2013 saw a marginal improvement in its vote share, polling 6.34% of the valid votes as against 4.3% in the 2020 assembly polls.
Fact
Newschecker first ran a keyword search for “Delhi Congress leaders celebrating poll results,” which did not throw up any credible news reports about such an incident nor video.
We then ran a reverse image search of keyframes, which led us to this X post by a journalist, Ajay Jha, on January 23, 2025, sharing the same video.
“Beyond victory and defeat… Congress party launched its ‘theme song’ for Delhi assembly elections with drums… Senior party leaders also danced to the theme song and boosted the morale of the workers,” read the post in Hindi.
The same video featured in a News24 X post on January 23, 2025, weeks before the Delhi election results on February 8, reiterating that it showed leaders dancing a theme song for the party ahead of the polls.
We also came across this January 23, 2025 India Today report on the theme song. A similar NDTV report can be seen here and here, further confirming that the viral video is not from after the Delhi Assembly election results.
