Viral Video Showing Public Screening Of Documentary On Babri Masjid Demolition Is From Maharashtra, Not Bangladesh

Public screening of a documentary on the demolition of Babri Masjid held in Bangladesh to incite Muslims against Hindus.

Fact
The viral video is not from Bangladesh, but from Mumbra in Maharashtra.

Several social media users are circulating a 4:10-minute video, claiming that a documentary on the demolition of Babri Masjid was screened in the middle of a crowded street in Bangladesh, so as to further provoke the Muslim community against the Hindus in the country.

“In Bangladesh, the demolition of Babri Masjid is being shown on huge screens! To incite the Muslim community against Hindus and cause bloodshed! The leaders and Maulanas of Bangladesh are directly challenging the Prime Minister of India and inciting India to attack Bangladesh in any way! This is a deep conspiracy of the Deep State and George Soros, they want to create adverse conditions before the arrival of Donald Trump!” read one such post on X, sharing the video.

Fact Check

Newschecker first ran a keyword search for “Babri Masjid Bangladesh screening,” which did not lead us to any credible news reports about such an incident.

Upon closer inspection of the video, we saw ‘Social Democratic Party of India‘ written below the video playing on the screen, along with several flags of the Indian political party.

Taking a cue from this, we next looked up the various social media handles of the SDPI, which led us to this X post by SDPI Mumbra Kalwa on December 6, 2024, sharing an excerpt of the viral video. Babri Masjid Timeline Exhibition | SDPI Mumbra at Darul Falah | A journey through history, read the post, sharing the YouTube link for the entire video. We found the same 4:10 minute video, uploaded on December 6, 2024, by SDPI Mumbra Kalwa’s Youtube account. December 6, 2024 marked the 32nd anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition

A similar video was shared by SDPI Mumbra on Instagram on December 7, 2024, stating that it was of an event in Mumbra, which is located in Thane district of Maharashtra.

We then searched for Darul Faleh, Mumbra, with the help of Google Maps and matched the image of the mosque and the surrounding area with the viral video, further confirming that it was from Mumbra and not Bangladesh.

Newschecker contacted the SDPI’s office, where national secretary Faisal Izzuddin confirmed that the video was from an event held in Mumbra, Maharashtra on December 6, 2024.

Conclusion
