Fact

Newschecker saw that the viral photo has not been shared by either Sara Tendulkar or Shubman Gill on their official social media accounts.

Newschecker then ran a reverse image search of the photo, which led us to this Zee News report, dated September 24, 2023, stating that in a heartwarming Instagram post on her younger brother Arjun’s 24th birthday, Sara shared a series of adorable images of the two, one of which closely resembled the viral photo. Similar reports on Sara’s post for her brother’s birthday can be seen here and here.

We then looked up the Instagram post by Sara Tendulkar, dated September 24, 2023, which read, “Baby bro turns 24 on the 24th!!! Happiest birthday… Your sister has always got your back.”

A comparison with the viral image (left) confirms that the Instagram photo of the Tendulkar siblings (right) has been doctored, mainly by superimposing Gill’s face over Arjun’s. Media reports on the morphed photo can be seen here and here.
