Video Of Mob Thrashing Youth For Stabbing Girl In Broad Daylight Viral With Communal Spin
Several social media users are circulating a video purportedly showing a group of people thrashing a youth while others tend to a severely injured girl, claiming that a “Muslim boy had stabbed a Hindu girl in broad daylight” in Kolkata. We found that the video does not show a mob thrashing Muslim man for stabbing Hindu girl, there is no communal angle to the incident. Read more here.
Image Of Digitally Translated Hindi Report Criticising Rahul Gandhi Viral With False Claim
Several social media users are circulating a screenshot of an alleged San Francisco-based newspaper with an image of the leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, purportedly headlined, “Americans are asking is Rahul from India or Pakistan?(sic)” We found that a screenshot of a Hindi news report, digitally translated to English, is being falsely shared as an article by a San Francisco-based newspaper criticising Rahul Gandhi. Video From Myanmar Falsely Shared As Drone Attack In Manipur
Several social media users shared a video claiming to show Kuki militants using drones to bomb Meitei houses in Manipur amid a resurgence of violence in the state. Newschecker, however, found the claim to be untrue. The video is actually from Myanmar, and not Manipur as widely claimed. Read more here.
Viral Video Shows American Singer Mary Millben, Not White House Staffer ‘Mary Bilman’, Criticising Rahul Gandhi
Several social media users shared a video claiming to show Mary Bilman, a senior White House employee, saying the US is surprised to see why Indians vote for Rahul Gandhi who always speaks negatively about his country. Newschecker, however, found that the video of an American singer, Mary Millben, has been shared in a false context. Read more here.
Viral Photos Of Deepika Padukone And Ranveer Singh With Their Newborn Are Manipulated
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh announced the birth of their first child on Sunday sending social media into a frenzy. As users poured in blessings, and congratulatory messages for the new parents, photographs purportedly showing them with their newborn went viral online.
