Fact Check/ Verification
To begin with, Newschecker checked the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh. While a congratulatory letter from Muhammad Yunus to the newly elected U.S. president, dated November 6, was indeed posted on his timeline, this letter differed from the one that is now going viral. In the official letter, Trump is not called a “Messiah.”
In addition to extending greetings, the letter posted on Yunus Khan’s official page also highlighted the friendly relations between the US and Bangladesh and further expressed hope for continued collaboration between the two nations to promote global peace.
A comparison of the two letters reveals several differences, such as variations in the colour of the official emblem, Muhammad Yunus’s signature, and the government stamp.
Newschecker also reached out to Shafiq Alam, the press secretary of Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government of Bangladesh who clarified that the letter is fabricated.
Conclusion
Thus it is clear that the viral letter, which shows Mohammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh calling newly elected US President Donald Trump, a ‘Messiah’, is Fake.
