Newschecker noticed the extremely glossy texture of the images, suggesting that they could be AI-generated.
We ran the image past Hive Moderation, an AI image detection tool, which said it was 99.5% likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content. Another detection tool, Truemedia, too, found some evidence of AI manipulation.

We also found that several Facebook accounts have posted the same photos, seen here, here and here, with a disclaimer stating that they are AI-generated images.
