CDS General Anil Chauhan said the Indian government "surrendered" Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh to China due to a weak Air Force.
The claim is false. The audio has been doctored using an AI-generated voiceover, and General Chauhan made no such statement.
A viral video circulating on social media alleges that Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan said the Indian government “surrendered” Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh to China due to a weak Air Force.

Newschecker did not find any credible news reports about such a statement by General Anil Chauhan.
NewsChecker’s investigation found multiple layers of evidence confirming that the viral video is fake. The Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector gave the voice an authenticity score of just 3 out of 100, indicating a very high likelihood of AI manipulation.

Similarly, The DeepFake-O-Meter, developed by the University at Buffalo’s UB Media Forensics Lab, concluded that the audio was AI-generated, with three of its analytic outputs rating extremely high artificiality scores of 99.7%, 99.95%, and 99.94%.

Further, we traced the original video to a recording uploaded by ANI on 29 November 2025, which shows General Anil Chauhan delivering an address at the Autumn Term 2025 Passing Out Parade of the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala, Kerala. A review of his full speech revealed no reference whatsoever to China, Arunachal Pradesh, or Ladakh. His remarks focused instead on naval preparedness, leadership, discipline, technology, and the importance of jointness among military services.
A comparison of the ANI footage with the viral clip also confirmed that the background and visuals match, confirming the clip was taken from the Passing Out Parade event. However, clear discrepancies in voice, tone, and speaking style, strong indicators that an AI voiceover had been overlaid onto the original visuals.
On 29 November 2025, PIB Fact Check formally clarified that CDS Chauhan never made the alleged statement and confirmed that the circulating video is digitally altered video.
