Fact
A keyword search for “Uday Kotak” and “investment platform” on Google did not yield any credible reports stating that he has promoted any such financial opportunity.
On carefully analysing the viral clip, we noticed the backdrop of “India Today conclave”, and the watermark of the outlet scrolling through the middle of the screen.

Taking a clue, we looked up keywords “India Today Conclave” and “Uday Kotak” on YouTube which led us to a video posted by the outlet on October 4, 2023, titled “Exclusive Interview Of Uday Kotak On Future Of Banking…”

We compared the keyframes of the viral clip with the India Today video and found that both the visuals were the same. However, we did not find any mention of such an investment platform in India Today’s interview video as claimed in the viral clip.

After inspecting the video carefully, we spotted that the lower halves of the faces of both, news anchor and Kotak, appeared to quiver while speaking, and the jaw area seems smudged. Further, we noticed that Kotak’s fingers appeared to merge with his face on multiple instances in the video. At one point, the colour of the lower half of Kotak’s face seemed to change too, all indicating that the media was likely manipulated using AI.

We then ran past a section of the video on AI detection platform Hive Moderation which concluded an overall 99.9% likelihood of the media containing AI generated or deepfake content.

Another AI audio detection tool, Resemble.ai termed the audio in the viral media, allegedly showing Kotak promoting the investment platform, “fake.”
We also checked certain segments of the audio on Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector which found them to be likely deepfake.

On clicking the link mentioned in the post, we were directed to a website “plastidwfi.pro” which displayed a fake Indian Express article – the actual URL of the outlet is “https://indianexpress.com/”

We then checked the link mentioned in the post on website Scam Detector which found it “Suspicious. Young. Untrustworthy”, and gave a low score of 6.5 points.

Newschecker has earlier debunked another such deepfake video of Uday Kotak, and the same can be seen here.
Kotak also recently warned against his “fake” video circulating on social media platforms.
