On carefully analysing the viral photo, we noticed certain discrepancies. For instance, the frame of the Prime Minister’s specs was not fully formed, and the letters written on Munir’s uniform did not make a proper word – neither his name, nor any military designation. The image’s blurry background and glossy texture further indicated that the media might have been a product of AI.
We then checked the photo on multiple AI detection platforms to check the authenticity of the viral media. Hive Moderation concluded a 98.5% likelihood of the media containing AI-generated or deepfake content.
Another platform Sightengine also concluded the media, allegedly showing PM Modi with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, to be likely AI generated (99%).
Moreover, we did not find any credible reports on the alleged meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir.
