The mysterious disappearance had become a topic of debate online, with many people wondering where it went.

Turns out that the disappearance was not that mysterious after all. While many international media houses reported on the curiosity that the occurrence piqued, we found a report by the British tabloid Metro titled ‘How funeral director’s sticker on Queen’s hearse vanished mid-journey’ published on 12th September, 2022.

According to the report, funeral directors William Purves drove Her Majesty’s corpse on Sunday from Balmoral to Edinburgh, but things got distracting when some eagle-eyed Scots noticed a William Purves sticker in the window of the polished, black vehicle. A poor gateway error notice appeared for everyone attempting to visit the website since there were so many individuals using the internet to seek for the company. By the time the casket arrived at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in the Scottish capital yesterday afternoon, the business logo had been removed.

The report clarified that after the public’s interest in the enterprise became apparent, it was decided to remove its sticker at the hearse’s first scheduled stop. “The spotlight should be on Her Majesty, not us,”  Metro quoted William Purves as saying.

Newschecker also found multiple reports by the Daily Mail and the Independent which relayed the same information.

The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II is lying in state at the Westminster Abbey in London. The 96-year-old monarch died September 8 at Balmoral Castle in northern Scotland after 70 years on the throne.

Following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Charles became King Charles III on September 8, 2022, making him the oldest person to ever assume the British throne. King Charles faces many challenges ahead, one of which is upholding the Commonwealth. Only 15 of the Commonwealth’s 56 nations now have the English monarch as their head of state. Other challenges include political instability, trade disruptions, an energy crisis and skyrocketing inflation, all of which the new monarch will have to handle with as much grace as his predecessor.
