A Facebook user claimed that Kamala Harris ate beef in “happiness” after becoming Vice President of the United States. Shared with an image of Harris biting into a piece of meat, the claim reads, “After becoming vice president in happiness taking bite of b…f. The meat eating half brahmin black Vice President. #KamalaHarris”
The claim comes after Harris became the Vice President-elect of the United States with Joe Biden, the President-elect. The United States Senator is said to be of African and Indian descent.
Fact Check/ Verification
A Google reverse image search of Harris’ photograph led us to her August 2019 tweet.
Captioned, “Finally got my pork chop!” Harris is seen relishing the meat in a 11-second video attached.
A blog included Harris’ photograph stating it was shot during the Iowa State Fair.
NPR and Daily Mail reported Harris’ visit to the State Fair last year.
An LA Times article titled, “The progressive Indian grandfather who inspired Kamala Harris,” describes her Indian-Brahmin links.
Conclusion
Contrary to the claim in context, the image of Kamala Harris biting into a piece of meat is from the Iowa State Fair in 2019. Also, the image shows her eating a pork chop, not beef.
