An image which shows a massive crowd is going viral across various social media platforms claiming that it is a recent image from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally for the Bihar assembly elections.
The caption in Hindi, when translated to English, reads, “those who were screaming wave after Tejashwi Yadav rally are now crying over social distancing guidelines after seeing modi ji’s rally today in Bihar.”
The image is viral on Facebook as well. Several readers sent the viral image to Newschecker’s WhatsApp helpline number for verification.
Fact Check/Verification
A Google reverse image search of the photograph led us to Prime Minister Narendra Modi official website.
We found that the image is from PM Modi’s rally in Patna, Bihar, which was held on March 3, 2019, during the Lok Sabha elections.
We found both the viral image and the image uploaded on PM Modi’s official website to be the same.
Also, the viral image does not show anyone in the crowd wearing masks, especially after the Election Commission recently reiterated its COVID-19 guidelines for political rallies.

It is noteworthy here that PM Modi addressed an election rally on October 23, 2020, in Sasaram district of Bihar where most of the people can be seen wearing masks.
Conclusion
It is evident from our fact check that an old image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Patna Rally during 2019 Lok Sabha elections has gone viral in relation to 2020 Bihar elections.
