Fact Check
Newschecker noticed the overly glossy texture of the 53-second clip, along with the lack of detail and almost stationary movements of the civilians and rescue personnel seen in the video, suggesting that it may be AI-generated. We ran a reverse image search of the keyframes, which did not throw up any such visuals. We also noticed the watermark reading, “Runway”, which is a US-based company on generative AI technology that focuses on creating products and models for generating video.
Newschecker then ran the video past Hive Moderation, an AI-content detection tool, which found it 99.8% likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content.
We also ran a keyframe of the video past WasitAI, another AI content detector, which stated that it was quite confident that the image, or significant part of it, was created by AI.
