AI/Deepfake
Video shows multiple explosions at the US airbase in Qatar following the recent strike by Iran.
Video found to be AI generated.
The Iranian forces launched a missile attack on the US military base in Qatar, Al-Udeid airbase, on Monday (June 23) in retaliation against the American strikes on its nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. The Qatar’s Ministry of Defence reportedly claimed its air defence systems successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles targeting the base.
In this backdrop, a 10-second-long-video showing multiple explosions and a large mushroom cloud rising over a vast cityscape has gone viral on social media platforms with users linking it to the recent Iranian strike on the US airbase in Qatar. Newschecker, however, found the video to be AI generated.

Newschecker began the investigation with a careful analysis of the viral clip, and spotted the watermark of Sora, a generative AI tool by OpenAI, on the bottom right corner of the screen.
We then checked the video on AI detection platform Hive Moderation which concluded an overall 97.1% likelihood of the media containing AI generated or deepfake content.
Another AI detection website ‘AI or Not’ also analysed multiple stills from the viral clip, allegedly showing the Iranian attack on the US airbase in Qatar, and found them to be “likely AI generated.”
We then conducted a reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip which did not yield any credible reports carrying the same. However, we found a TikTok post, dated June 14, 2025, carrying the same video. It displayed the watermark of one “@miniverseproductions”, and the “original sound” was also credited to “Miniverse Productions AI Minds.”
Though the username no longer existed on the platform, we were able to dig out an archived version of the original post, dated April 21, 2025 , clearly labelled as “AI generated” by the creator.
Newschecker recently debunked another AI generated image claiming to show a massive explosion in Qatar following the recent strikes by the Iranian forces. The same can be seen here.
