Fact

Newschecker noticed the unusually sharp and smooth texture of the viral image, telltale signs of AI-generated content, raising our doubts.

We then ran the image past a couple of AI content-detection tools, AI or Not, and, True Media, which stated that the viral picture is “likely AI generated” and detected “substantial evidence of manipulation”.

We also came across multiple videos and photos of Bieber’s performance at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s sangeet ceremony, which was held at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre on July 5, seen here, here and here. “Justin Bieber performed at the event, wearing a jacket, white vest, loose pants, and his signature cap. He interacted with the guests while performing his hits like ‘Baby’, ‘Sorry’, and ‘Love Yourself’. Bieber shared several videos from his performance, showing him engaging with the audience and holding the mic towards them,” read a Business Today report, dated July 7, 2024, which further confirms that he did not don Indian traditional wear nor did he play the harmonium during the celebrations.
