Authors

Days ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections, as the Yogi administration showcases its various achievement over the last five years, several BJP leaders heaped praise on the state CM by sharing the image of a dam, claiming it to be the Bhaoni Dam Project in Uttar Pradesh’s Bundelkhand region. Newschecker found the image to be that of the Srisailam reservoir built over Krishna River on the border between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

BJP leaders including Hariom Pandey, Avadhesh Singh, and Vishal Singh Chanchal along with Hindu Yuva Vahini – a Hindu youth organization, founded by Adityanath- leaders, Yogi Devnath and Vikash Ahir tweeted the image on November 19.  The image has garnered hundreds of likes and retweets ever since.

PM Narendra Modi had visited Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district (part of the Bundelkhand region) on November 19 for the inauguration of several irrigation projects in the poll-bound state, in this backdrop, several BJP leaders and workers tweeted the image with hashtag ‘Buland_Bundelkhand’ in Hindi.

Newschecker also found the image is shared on Facebook with similar captions.

Further, on searching for photos/videos released on the inaugural program held on November 19, Newschecker found a video posted on PM Modi’s official YouTube channel.

The video carries visuals of the developmental projects in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh but does not include the viral image of the dam claiming to be from Bundelkhand.
