Claim

Arvind Kejriwal urinated in his pants after being apprehended by ED officials.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday arrested Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal following searches at his official residence and an interrogation lasting nearly two hours. The arrest is reportedly linked to a money laundering investigation concerning the excise policy case of the Delhi government. Kejriwal has been remanded in the custody of ED till March 28.

Fact

Newschecker ran a reverse image search, which led us to this ProKerala article, dated June 6, 2022,  featuring a similar photo. “Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal arrives in Ahmedabad to participate in a Tirangaa Yatra in Mehsana,on Monday,” read the caption, crediting the photo to IANS. A similar media report featuring the photo can be seen here, confirming that it predates Kejriwal’s arrest.

A comparison of the two photos clearly shows that the viral image (right) was digitally altered, especially considering Kejriwal’s shirt and the officials accompanying him.
