Fact Check: Old Video Of Israel’s Rafah Attack Shared As ‘Israeli Aircrafts Destroyed By Iran’

Claim

Iran has successfully destroyed 30 Israeli F-35 fighter jets.

Fact

Upon conducting a keyword search on the internet, we could not find any news indicating that Israeli F-35 fighter jets were destroyed in Iran. Even in the viral video, there was no evidence of the plane’s wreckage.

A reverse image search on the keyframe of the viral video led us to a news report published by NBC News on February 12, 2024, with a similar image. Per the news, the footage depicts the Israeli bombing of the Shaboura refugee camp in Rafah, situated in the southern Gaza Strip. Comparing the viral video and the image, we found many similarities.

On the same date, Turkey’s official news agency Anadolu Agency, along with other media outlets like Al Jazeera, Middle East Eye, and Left Voice, reported on the incident using the same image.

So, it is clear that the viral video does not show that Iran destroyed 30 Israeli F-35 fighter jets.

Result: False
