Actor Vijay Snubbed By Student During Photo Session? Here’s The Truth Behind The Viral Video

A 11-second-long-video allegedly showing a girl asking actor-turned-politician Vijay to remove his hand from her shoulder during a felicitation ceremony has gone viral on social media platforms. Widely known as “Thalapathy”, the Tamil actor launched his political party ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’ (TVK) in 2024, and is set to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. 

Multiple users, including verified handles, who shared the video claimed that it shows, “Moment when a student showed the real place to Crypto Vijay.” Newschecker, however, found that the video was clipped misleadingly.

Fact Check/Verification

We found a YouTube video by Behindwoods TV live streamed on June 28, 2024, titled ‘Thalapathy Vijay Education Award Ceremony 2024 | Education Award Ceremony.’ It featured the actor-politician in the same attire and background as seen in the viral clip. 

On skimming through the live streaming, we spotted the viral clip showing Vijay felicitating a girl around 1:39:35 hours. We noticed that the girl first says something to Vijay, then removes his hand from her shoulder, as seen in the viral video, only to hold the actor’s forearm while posing for a photo. 

Another woman accompanying the girl is also seen posing in the same manner. She is then seen talking to Vijay and shaking hands with him before leaving the stage.

Conclusion

Hence, the viral video claiming that a girl asked actor-politician Vijay to remove his hand from her shoulder on stage was found to have been clipped misleadingly.
