“The Scam Detector website Validator gives sales-india.live a pretty low trust score on the platform: 14.9. It signals that the business could be defined by the following tags: Controversial. High-Risk. Unsafe.. We are confident about our score as we also partner with other high-tech, fraud-prevention companies that found the same issues. So, why this low score? We came up with the 14.9 score based on 53 aggregated factors relevant to sales-india.live’s industry. The algorithm flagged its seemingly suspicious success, even with a newly registered domain. It also detected high-risk activity related to phishing, spamming, and other factors noted in the Controversial. High-Risk. Unsafe. tags above. Newschecker came across this write-up by major cybersecurity software company Avast, dated December 17, 2024, which stated that fake giveaways, often disguised as a contest or prize promotions, are one of the many traps scammers use to steal your personal data, money, or even gain access to your accounts.
“Giveaway competitions on Facebook can be tempting, luring you in with the possibility of a freebie, but be aware that these posts aren’t always what they seem. Which? has found a number of examples of fake competitions circulating on social media in recent months. These competitions are run by scammers, who create fake Facebook pages impersonating well-known brands. ‘Winners’ of the fake giveaways will often be asked to hand over personal data and payment details in order to receive their freebie. Fraudsters can then use these details to scam you,” read an article by UK-based independent consumer advocacy group Which?, dated October 30, 2024.
According to the articles, the most effective ways to protect yourself from giveaway fraud is by checking the account’s credibility (look for a verified blue checkmark); be wary of brand new profiles; never share personal information such as ID numbers or bank details with strangers; and avoid clicking on unofficial links. Also, if you are asked for money for a prize, it is most likely a scam.
