Fact Check
LIC circular announcing withdrawal of all insurance plans/products for revision on September 30, 2024. Revised plans/policies to be introduced after October 1, 2024, with certain conditions, further states the circular.

The archived version of the post can be seen here. We received this claim on our Whatsapp tipline (9999499044), too, requesting us to fact-check it.

Newschecker noticed that the “circular” was not dated, while there were few grammatical errors across the letter, such as the spelling of “regards” towards the bottom, raising our doubts on the authenticity.

We went to the LIC website, where we did not find any such press release from the organisation.
We then looked up the official X account of LIC, which reposted a tweet by PIB Fact Check, dated September 2, 2024, dismissing the viral letter as fake. “A notice allegedly issued by LIC is doing the rounds on social media & claims that it is going to withdraw all insurance products/plans for revision on 30 September 2024. No such notice has been issued by @LICIndiaForever,” read the post.
