In a viral video, CNN’s Chief Political Correspondent John King talks about the Republic and Democrat divide in Georgia when the logo of Pornhub pops into view on the magic wall (virtual election map).
Unpuzzeld, King is seen flicking the pornography website logo out of the way and looking back at his card.
This video was widely circulated on Twitter with even verified handles sharing it.
With good reason, the video is now tagged as ‘Manipulated Media’ on Twitter.
Fact Check/ Verification
Amid the much-awaited US Presidential election results, many are calling the Pornhub pop-up on CNN the ‘best thing about the election’. But this is far from the truth.
We looked through CNN’s official Youtube channel, but could not find the viral clip.
Next, we did a relevant keyword search on Twitter’s advanced search tool and found that a few users shared the original video of the viral clip.
We compared keyframes of both videos and found that the part where King flicks a drop-down on the magic wall was edited.
In a reply to a user who shared the viral video, King clarified that it’s fake. His reply reads, “Not. Some clown taking time away from lying about something else apparently because they don’t like math.”
This claim has been debunked in our Hindi fact check as well.
Conclusion
Our research makes it clear that the viral clip of Pornhub popping up on CNN’s magic wall is false. The original video was manipulated to spread fake news.
Result: Manipulated Video
