India-Pak Standoff: Fake Govt Advisory Urging Citizens To Stock Up On Essential Items, Keep ₹50K In Hand Goes Viral
Claim
A purported government advisory, urging Indian citizens living near border areas to follow precautionary measures to ensure safety and preparedness owing to the escalating India-Pakistan tensions.
Fact
Newschecker noticed that the “advisory” did not mention the government body that issued it nor a date of publishing, raising our doubts.
We then ran a reverse image search, which led us to this PIB Fact Check post on X, dated May 6, 2025, debunking the viral advisory and stating that the government has not issued any such circular.
“This claim is fake. The government has not issued any such advisory. Beware! Trust only official government sources for credible information,” read the post. Also, we have not come across any such advisory from official government social media accounts.
We also came across media reports debunking the advisory, seen here, here and here, further confirming that it was fake.
