Fact check/Verification
To investigate the claim, Newschecker ran a reverse image search on the viral photograph. The result from google reverse image search led us to an article published by a pro-Chinese website called I-News.
I-News has carried the viral image in an article on an upcoming Indian movie, shot in Kargil.
Using this article as a clue we searched for ‘Galwan valley movie’ on YouTube. In the search result, we found a video published ten months ago by a channel called Martial Art Ladakh.
Five minutes and thirty-nine seconds into the video dated December 3, 2020, we can see the viral image. The video is titled ‘lac movie Shooting in Kargil Ladakh Behind the scenes’ and features the famous actor Rahul Roy in the lead role.
The description section of the video reads the movie was inspired by the ‘Indian brave soldiers’ and it depicts the clash between the Indian and Chinese army in Galwan last year.
Newschecker compared the viral image with a scene from the movie shoot and found them to be indistinguishable.
LAC is a Hindi film directed by Nitin Gupta, with Rahul Roy in the lead who plays Colonel Suresh Yadav. Newschecker found multiple media reports on the movie which can be accessed here, here, and here.
Conclusion:
A scene from the movie -LAC- is falsely shared as ‘Indian army capturing 150 Chinese soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh.’
