Instagram to be banned across India from May 10 to protect national interests amid heightened tensions between Indian and Pakistan.
The claim has been amplified by several influencers, suggesting ways on how to save important information from your accounts and to forward these tips to friends and family before the purported ban comes into effect.

Newschecker first ran a keyword search for “Instagram May 10 ban”, which did not lead us to any official government notification nor any credible news reports about such a move.
We then looked up the website of Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, where we did not find any information substantiating the viral claim nor any press statement.
Newschecker then reached out to Meta, who confirmed that the viral claim is false.
