Fact

On carefully analysing the viral footage, we noticed the watermark of “OneIndia Kannada” in the video.

Taking a clue, we looked up keywords “RCB,” and “fans” on the YouTube channel of OneIndia Kannada which yielded a report dated April 27, 2023. The caption stated, “Bengaluru and Kolkata teams met for the second time and Kolkata team won again (translated from Kannada via Google.)”

Around 1:30 minutes, we spotted the viral footage of the disappointed RCB fans.

We found that the video was also shared on Facebook by @neindiakannada on April 26, 2023 with the caption, “Except KGF, all other players in RCB team are waste players. #IPL2023Kannada #IPL2023 #RCBvsKKR #Kohli #DineshKarthik.”

Hence, we conclude that an old video of disappointed RCB fans after their team’s defeat to KKR in IPL 2023 has been misleadingly linked to Bengaluru’s loss to Kolkata in IPL 2024.

Result: Missing Context
