Newschecker ran a reverse image search of the keyframes of the viral video, which led us to the same video shared on Facebook on March 27, 2020, well before the ongoing legal and environmental dispute over the Kancha Gachibowli forest.
“Beautiful! A family of Sambhars stroll down the road in Haridwar during the lockdown! As humans retreat to their homes animals venture out even in India! The sign of a good curfew is wild animals on the road! Well done Haridwar!,” read the post. A similar Facebook post, uploaded on the same day, can be seen here, stating that the video was from Shivalik Nagar, Haridwar.
A further search led us to an India Today report, dated March 27, 2020, stating that the video shows three Sambar deer casually strolling, during the coronavirus-enforced lockdown, in a society in Shivalik Nagar, which is near Rajaji National park in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, while the people locked inside a nearby house recorded the scene in amazement.
