Newschecker ran a reverse image search of the keyframes, which led us to this video posted by a Pakistani journalist on X on April 23, 2025, well before India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7.
“Influential people in Vehari tortured and beat a transgender woman in public. Attempted to kidnap her in a car. The transgender woman escaped from the car with great difficulty. The people around her watched the spectacle,” read the Urdu post. We also found this video uploaded on April 28, 2025, on Facebook.
The accompanying post in Urdu read, “On April 23, the accused attacked Shehzadi alias Ramzan in a public place and tried to pick her up while firing in the air. According to the transgender victim, Shehzadi, the accused, Rana Phool, Rana Moon and their associates, beat her up for not befriending them. After the incident, the police of Danewala police station immediately reached the spot and a case was registered and legal proceedings were initiated. The accused had fled after the incident, but special police teams tracked down and arrested three accused Atif, Imran and Tahir Javed. Police are conducting raids at various places to arrest the other accused and they will be caught soon,” adding that this information was released by Mohammad Afzal, district police officer of Vehari in Pakistan’s Punjab province. Following this, we looked up the Facebook account of Vehari Police and found a post made on April 28, 2025, which shared a picture of three people in the lock-up, while reiterating the information given by Afzal.
We then reached out to Danewal police station SHO Kazim Malik, who denied the viral claim and said, “This incident is from April 23. A transgender named Shahzadi had lodged a case accusing five-six unknown people, including Rana Phool, Rana Moon, Rashid Paro, Atif and Waqar Bhatti, of assault, kidnapping, firing and snatching a mobile. The Danewal police registered a complaint under several sections. The five accused were arrested and presented in court.”
