Multiple X and Facebook users shared the video stating, “Uttar Pradesh is heading towards a Jungle Raaj. Just look at how the Police are beating the old Man mercilessly. Mob lynching, Bulldozer on Homes of Innocent Muslims is common in UP now.”

Fact
A Google lens search on the keyframes of the viral clip led us to a report by NDTV, dated July 29, 2022. Carrying snippets from the same footage, the report stated, “A video of a uniformed cop kicking an elderly man at Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur railway station has given rise to a wave of outrage at police.”
Displaying the video, an Economic Times report from July 2022 further corroborated that the incident happened at the Jabalpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh. Adding that the constable seen brutality assaulting the elderly man in the video was suspended.
A CNN-News18 report on the incident stated, “ A police official from Rewa said that the police constable involved in the brutal thrashing of an old man at Jabalpur Railway Station has been suspended. The issue came to light after a video of the policeman beating an old man mercilessly and dragging him went viral on social media. The police constable was identified as Anant Sharma and the name of the victim is Gopal Prasad.”

Hence, an old video from Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur railway station has been falsely shared to show a police personnel assaulting an elderly man in Uttar Pradesh.
