Shark Tank India Judge Vineeta Singh Did Not Act In ‘3 Idiots’

Social media users are circulating a post, claiming that Vineeta Singh, Sugar Cosmetics CEO and Shark Tank India judge, had played the role of actor Sharman Joshi’s mother, in the 2009 Bollywood hit “3 Idiots”.

Fact check

Newschecker first looked up the credits of the movie, 3 Idiots, in IMDb, where we saw that the character of Mrs Rastogi was played by veteran actor Amardeep Jha. We looked up the movie’s ending credits, confirming that the role was played by Jha.

We then ran a keyword search for “Vineeta Singh 3 Idiots”, which led us to multiple news reports, seen here and here. We learnt that the posts comparing Vineeta Singh to Jha had gone viral in early-2022, too. According to these reports, Singh responded to the viral memes by recreating the funny scene where Raju’s mother can be seen cribbing about the soaring prices of bhindi, paneer and gold.

The video was shared by Singh and Sugar Cosmetics on social media.

Shark Tank India judge Vineeta Singh was falsely claimed to have acted as one of the lead actors’ mother in popular Bollywood movie ‘3 Idiots’.
