A Google lens search on the viral photograph led us to a Facebook post by @withRG, dated October 14, 2021. It featured the same image of late Dr Manmohan Singh in a hospital bed.
We also found a report by Zee News, dated October 14, 2021, carrying a different version of the same photograph also featuring Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. “The former Prime Minister was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Wednesday evening after he complained of weakness following a fever,” the report stated.
Adding, “Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited the former prime minister and enquired about his health from the doctors treating him.”

The image was also shared in a report by The Tribune featuring visuals of Mandaviya’s visit to AIIMS to meet the former Indian PM. “Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday met former prime minister Manmohan Singh, who has been admitted to the AIIMS here after complaining of weakness following a fever, and enquired about his health,” stated the report, dated October 14, 2021.
Manmohan Singh’s daughter, Daman Singh, had reportedly accused the Union Minister of getting a photographer against the wishes of the family. The Congress had also slammed Mandaviya for making the “visit to meet former PM in AIIMS, an ugly ‘PR Stunt.’”
In August 2023, Manmohan Singh had made headlines for attending the Rajya Sabha proceedings in a wheelchair. Earlier this year, a photograph of the former Indian PM showing his fingers marked with indelible ink after voting through postal ballots for the Lok Sabha Polls had also surfaced online.
