Fact check

A keyword  search for “bamboo airport India” led us to reports on the upcoming inauguration of Terminal 2 in Kempegowda International Airport, and the both of which are due to be inaugurated this month.

We first began by looking up the Donyi Polo airport, in Arunachal Pradesh, which will be operational soon. We found several reports that carried an image of a bamboo entrance to the airport shaped in the form of a great hornbill spreading its wings. We also found a tweet by the Airports Authority of India that carried the same image, describing the uniqueness of the gates of the upcoming airport.

But other than the image showing the gate of the airport, we found no other reports, videos or images from any credible sources that indicated that the interiors of the airport terminal were also made of bamboo.

We then looked up reports on Terminal 2 of the Kempegowda International Airport and found several news outlets carrying images similar to the frame seen on the viral video. You can see them here, here and here

Result: False
