Fact

Newschecker ran a reverse image search of keyframes, which led us to the same 48-second video uploaded on X on May 31, 2025, a day before Ukraine’s massive drone attack hitting more than 40 Russian military aircraft, resulting in an escalation of tensions. “A massive fire has erupted at Hamriyah Port in Sharjah, UAE, and is still ongoing as of May 31, 2025,” read the post.

We also came across this Khaleej Times post, sharing the viral video on Instagram on May 31, 2025, stating, “Fire erupts at fuel warehouse in Sharjah’s Hamriyah Port. Swift action by Sharjah Civil Defense prevented the blaze from spreading. Firefighting efforts are still underway.” A similar post by The Peninsula Qatar can be seen here.

“Helicopters and firefighting equipment were used to bring a blaze at a fuel depot in Sharjah’s Al Hamriyah Port under control on Saturday (May 31). No casualties were reported by Sharjah Civil Defence, who battled black smoke and raging flames from about 6.10am after the fire was sparked by the ignition of petrochemical substances. With specialists in fire and chemical safety brought in from across the country, the incident is believed to have started in a warehouse and was brought under control at 6.25am on Sunday, officials said,” read UAE-based The National news report, dated June 1, 2025, which further confirms that the viral video is not related to the Russia-Ukraine war.
