Claim

Sand sculptures of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli sculpted by a child.

The archived version of the tweet can be seen here.

Fact

Newschecker noticed the unnaturally smooth texture of the purported sand sculpture, a telltale sign associated with AI-generated images, which raised our doubts. We also did not find any credible news reports of such an artwork created recently.

We then ran the image past Hive Moderator, an AI-generated content detection tool, which stated that there is a 99.9% chance of it being AI generated. A similar online tool, AI Or Not, stated that the image is likely AI-generated. Maybe’s AI Art Detector tool, too, said the image was 99% likely to be an AI-generated image.
