Viral Image Shows Pakistani Man, Not Indian, Held For Molesting Japanese Schoolgirl

An Indian man, Pramod Rathore, from Haryana, was arrested in Japan for molesting a girl.

Newschecker ran a keyword search for “Pramod Rathore Japan”, which did not lead us to any news reports about such a case.

We then ran a reverse image search, which led us to this X post, dated September 14, 2024, stating that a Pakistani man Afzal Muhammad, 31, was arrested in Tokyo for allegedly groping a sleeping high school girl on a train before dragging her off and sexually assaulting her.

Muhammad, a student at a vocational school in Nakagami-cho, Akishima City, was reportedly arrested by officers from Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s Takao Police Station on September 11. A similar report can be seen here.

An X post by Tokyo-based news agency Jiji Press, dated September 11, 2024, confirms that a Pakistani man was arrested for allegedly groping a schoolgirl. Similar posts by Japanese media outlets can be seen here and here.
