Fact Check
Claim
EAM Jaishankar asked to leave Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Fact
False. Clip of an official asking cameraperson to move back misrepresented.
A video from Inaugural ceremony of Donald Trump as the 47th US President purportedly showing an official “demanding” Indian EAM S Jaishankar to leave the venue, has gone viral on social media platforms.
The 35 seconds long video has been widely circulated on social media platforms with a text overlay alleging, “Man whispers at the blonde lady. Then she goes to Dr. Jaishankar. She touches her shoulder and asks him to leave. But, he ignores her and stands his ground. And she fails the mission…”
Multiple social media handles, including verified profiles, shared the video calling the alleged incident “shameful.”

On carefully analysing the viral clip, we noticed the watermark of JCCIC (Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies) on the top left corner of the screen.
Taking a clue, we looked up “JCCIC” and “Inauguration live” on Google which led us to a YouTube live stream of the entire event shared on the Committee’s official website.
We skimmed through the video, and around 3:08:08 hours spotted visuals similar to the one seen in the viral clip. In the video, a cameraperson is seen crouched down near Jaishankar. She is then seen taking a few steps, and sitting in front of the row where the EAM is standing. Her handheld camera is clearly visible in the following frames.
Around 3:08:53 hours, a woman official is then seen approaching the cameraperson, and asking her to go back. The official is seen facing downwards, further indicating that she was instructing the cameraperson. A few seconds later the cameraperson can also be seen exiting the screen.

The videographic and photographic sequence of the events can be seen below. The red markers indicate the movement of the cameraperson in the video.
The official can also be seen instructing other camerapersons around 3:07:00 hours into the video.
Moreover we did not find any credible reports stating that Jaishankar was asked to leave Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony.
The EAM shared multiple photographs from the event on his official X handle, stating, “A great honour to represent India at the inauguration ceremony of @POTUS President Donald J Trump and @VP Vice President JD Vance in Washington DC today.” Such images also showed him seated in the first row.
