Malda Violence: Viral Video Claiming To Show Vandalism In Malda Is Actually A 2023 Video From Bangladesh

Tensions prevailed in Malda after fireworks were allegedly set off in front of the Mothabari mosque on the night of March 26, 2025. In this backdrop, a video showing a group of people vandalizing and setting vehicles on fire has gone viral on social media, with users claiming it to be from Mothabari, Malda. A video, purportedly showing S Jaishankar, external affairs minister of India, endorsing an online investment platform, has gone viral across social media platforms. According to the video, every citizen who invests ₹21,000 in the project would receive ₹60,000 on the first day, accumulating ₹15,00,000 in the first month.
