Several social media users shared a video, claiming that it showed RSS activists leading relief efforts following the devastating landslides on July 30 in Kerala’s Wayanad. Newschecker found that the video actually showed DYFI volunteers at a collection centre in Kannur.

Old, Unrelated Images From Idukki Linked To Recent Landslides In Wayanad

Social media platforms were flooded with unverified visuals claiming to show the recent landslides in Kerala. Newschecker investigated two such images, and found them to be unrelated to the landslides in Wayanad, but of rescue operations in Idukki in 2020.

Satire Article On Samsung Withdrawing $1Bn Sponsorship From ‘Woke’ Paris Olympics Shared As Real

Amid the reports of tech firms pulling out its Olympics advertising, several social media users claimed that South Korean giant Samsung, an official partner of the games, withdrew its $1 billion sponsorship from the Paris Olympics over its “woke agenda”. Newschecker found that the fake news originated from a satire article and that Samsung is an official partner of the IOC.

Video Claiming To Show Location Where Hamas Leader Was Killed Actually From Syria

Multiple social media users shared a video allegedly showing the building in Tehran which was targeted to assassinate Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh. Newschecker found that it was an old video from Syria’s Damascus shared in false context.

Muttiah Muralitharan Grooving To ‘Tauba Tauba’? No, Video Viral With False Claim

A video showing a man dancing to the song “Tauba Tauba” from Vicky Kaushal-starrer Bad Newz is going viral with multiple users claiming that it shows legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan grooving to the Bollywood number. Newschecker found that it was choreographer Kiran J who was misidentified as the former cricketer.
