Several social media users are circulating a video, where people are breaking what appears to be EVMs, claiming that the citizens in Karnataka caught a BJP leader who was travelling with the machines after the elections. Newschecker found that the viral video was falsely claimed to show Karnataka citizens damaging EVMs after they seized it from a “BJP MLA’s car”. The citizens had stopped a sector officer’s car and damaged the reserve EVMs in Vijayapura. Read more here.
Did Congress Chief Kharge Wait For Sonia Gandhi’s ‘Permission’ To Sit? No, Viral Video Shared Out Of Context
A video of Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on stage is being widely shared on social media platforms. In the clip, Sonia Gandhi and other leaders can be seen taking their seats, while the Congress chief Kharge remains standing. Several social media users shared the video alleging that Kharge was waiting for Sonia Gandhi’s approval to sit. Newschecker found that the video is being shared out of context. Read more here.

A video has recently gone viral on social media with the claim that the West Bengal police had allegedly assaulted and arrested people in Inox, Forum Rangoli Mall, Howrah, for watching the controversial film, “The Kerala Story”. Newschecker found that the police did not arrest cinemagoers for watching the movie in Howrah mall. The video actually shows the police pulling away people for creating ruckus in the mall after cancellation of “The Kerala Story” screening. Read more here.
Wrestlers’ Protest Not Called Off, Viral Photograph Of Grapplers Leading The Agitation Shared In False Context
A photograph of Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, who are leading the wrestlers’ protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, likely coming out of a tent holding their belongings, is being widely shared on social media platforms. Those who shared the photograph claimed that the wrestlers have called off the protest. Newschecker found the claim to be untrue. The wrestlers have not called off the protest against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Read more here.
‘No-Rape Agreement’ Between Imran Khan & Pak Govt Found To Be Fake
A letter has gone viral on social media, purportedly of an agreement signed between former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, interior secretary Yousuf Khokhar and the US ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome, where Khan requested certain bizarre “sureties” in case of his recent arrest over corruption charges.
