Newschecker noticed that the viral photo seemed overly glossy and sharp while the background was unclear, indicating that it is likely AI-generated media.
We ran the image past AI media detection tool Hive Moderation, which found it to be “99.8% likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content”.
Another tool, SightEngine, too, found the photo 99% likely to be AI-generated.
