A 2-minute 23-second excerpt from a purported interview of former NSG commando and ex-RAW agent Lucky Bisht by journalist Sushant Sinha has gone viral across social media platforms, where Bisht is seen discussing the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, while allegedly claiming that Pakistani armed forces are way more superior with drones capable of reaching Delhi and that the Indian Air Force lost five to six of its Rafale jets during Operation Sindoor.

Newschecker noticed that Bisht’s lip movements were not completely synchronised with his speech, raising our doubts on whether it was manipulated using AI. We then ran a keyword search for “Lucky Bisht Sushant Sinha”, which led us to the full 1-hour 20-minute interview on Sinha’s Youtube channel, headlined “Modi का आदमी है Lawrence Bishnoi? Secret Life of a Spy | Lucky Bisht podcast with Sushant Sinha”, which was uploaded a few months before the Pahalgam terror attack on November 8, 2024 and. Both Sinha and Bisht are donning the same attire as seen in the viral video, indicating that it was the original video that has been digitally altered.
At no point in the interview did Bisht make any of the claims regarding the Pakistani armed forces as heard in the viral clip. We next ran the video past Hive Moderation, an AI-content detection platform, which found it 99.8% likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content. The Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector, too, found the voice, by running multiple excerpts, to be “likely a deepfake.” We also ran the audio past Resemble AI’s Deepfake Detector, which stated that the voice was “Fake”, further confirming that the viral video was a deepfake.
