Do These Photos Show KL Rahul & Athiya Shetty With Newborn Daughter? No, Viral Images Are AI-Generated

Photos of star Indian cricketer KL Rahul and actor Athiya Shetty with their baby girl at the hospital.

The couple announced the news on Instagram with a post on Monday evening that saw Rahul skipping the IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants to attend the birth of his child. The archived version of the viral post, which has clocked 911K views so far, can be seen here.

Newschecker noticed the overly smooth texture of the images, along with the lack of detail in the background, both telltale signs of AI-generated media.

We ran the image past Hive Moderation, an AI-content detection tool, which found the image to be 99.8% likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content.

Similarly, the SightEngine tool found the viral image to be 99% likely to be AI-generated.

We ran the image past the WasitAI image detector tool, which said it was quite confident that the image, or significant part of it, was created by AI. Another tool, FakeImageDetector, said the image looks computer-generated or modified.
