Viral Video of PM Narendra Modi Wearing Skull Cap And Praying Is AI-Generated

Claim

Video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi wearing a skull cap and praying during the holy Islamic month of Ramadan, along with an audio of PM Modi praying to Allah for forgiveness for Union home minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and himself.

Fact

Newschecker first looked up PM Narendra Modi’s official social media accounts and did not find any such photos or videos shared by him. We also did not find the images in any news reports.

We noticed the overly glossy texture of the video, the blurred background, the unnatural movement of the fingers, especially at one point where they seem to blend into each other, along with the changing length of PM Modi’s beard, all signs suggesting that the video may be AI-generated.

The Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU) of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA), of which Newschecker is a part, ran several keyframes, keeping PM Modi in focus, past the WasitAI image detector, which concluded that images were AI-generated.

We also found the earliest instance of the video being uploaded on Instagram on February 18, 2025, by @ai_wale_bhaiya, whose bio has the hashtags #ai #funny #comedy, along with several similar AI-generated media of PM Narendra Modi.  We have reached out to the user for more details on the viral video and will update this copy once we receive a response.
