Claim
Massive procession by AIMIM’s Tahir Hussain after losing Delhi Polls.

Fact
Video from election campaigning, predates poll results.

A video purportedly showing AIMIM leader Tahir Hussain’s procession after losing the recently concluded Delhi Elections has gone viral on social media platforms.

Hussain, who contested from the Mustafabad constituency, bagged 33,474 votes to secure the third position after BJP’s Mohan Singh Bisht and AAP’s Adeel Ahmad Khan. He was earlier a councillor with the AAP, but was suspended in 2020 after being accused in multiple cases related to the North East Delhi riots, and is currently in jail.

Multiple X and Facebook users shared the 20-second-long-video allegedly showing a massive procession following Tahir Hussain’s defeat.

Fact Check/Verification

A Google search for “Tahir Hussain,” “loss” and “rally” did not yield any relevant reports on any such procession by the AIMIM leader.

We, however, came across reports stating that Hussain was granted a six-day in-custodial parole from January 29, 2025 to February 3, 2025 for canvassing for 12 hours daily.

Delhi Elections results were announced on February 8, days after Hussain’s parole ended, confirming that the video could not show a procession by the AIMIM leader after his defeat in the recent polls.

We then looked up the keyframes of the viral video on Google Lens which led us to a YouTube video by @Smvlog96, dated 6, 2025. It featured the same video allegedly showing the AIMIM leader celebrating his defeat in Delhi Polls.

Subsequent investigation led us to a Facebook video, live streamed on February 3, 2025, by ‘Bhartiya Saifi Samaj Youth (Kamruddin Saifi)’ titled ‘Massive crowd at Haji Tahir Hussain’s last roadshow in Mustafabad…”

On comparing the keyframes of the viral clip with the video live streamed on Facebook, we found multiple similarities between the two visuals.

We came across an X post by Shoaib Jamai, AIMIM Delhi President, dated February 3, 2025, carrying similar visuals of a massive roadshow in support of Tahir Hussain in Mustafabad.

ABP News also reported on the road show by Tahir Hussain on February 3, 2025. News outlet Lallantop also interviewed Hussain during the same.

Newschecker reached out to Haji Mehardeen Rangrez, Spokesperson and General Secretary of AIMIM Delhi, who dismissed the claim and confirmed that the video was from the February 3, 2025 road show.
