Fact
A keyword search for “Nitish Kumar,” “Tejashwi Yadav,” “meets” “Rahul Gandhi,” and “Mallikarjun Kharge” on Youtube led us to a report by Midday India, dated April 12, 2023. Carrying snippets from the viral footage, the report elaborated on a meeting of the Congress leaders with Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav at Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence.
Carrying snippets from the viral clip, an NDTV report from April 2023 stated, “In another attempt to stitch together a united Opposition front ahead of the 2024 general election, top leaders of the Congress, Janata Dal (United) (JDU) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) met in Delhi today to explore the possibility of putting up a united fight against the ruling BJP.”
“This is a historic step to unite the opposition. We will develop the vision of the opposition parties and move forward… we will stand together for the country,” Rahul Gandhi was quoted as saying after the meeting.
Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge had also shared photographs from the meeting on his official X account on April 12, 2023. The same can be seen below.
Notably, JD(U) President Nitish Kumar severed ties with the opposition INDI bloc, and joined the BJP-led NDA in January 2024.
