Fact
To check if the video did show women being thrashed by cops in MP for protesting, Newschecker split the viral video into keyframes and conducted a reverse image search on Google, which lead us to this video report uploaded in YouTube, revealing that the incident took place in Jharkhand in September 2019. The caption of the video mentioned that the protests were held by Anganwadi workers in front of CM’s home in Ranchi to be made permanent employees.
We then conducted a keyword search for the terms “ranchi’ “anganwadi workers” “protest” and “cm home” which took us to several reports relaying the same information.
This report by Quint reported “On 24 September, many protesting Anganwadi Sevika Sahayaka Sangh workers were beaten up in Jharkhand’s Ranchi by the police on the 40th consecutive day of their protest.” The report carries the same sequence that is now viral.
Another report by Hindustan Times also carries a stil, from the same sequence as seen in the viral video. The caption of the image read “Police wielded batons against protesting aaganwadi workers in Ranchi, September 24, 2019”.
Thus, it is clear that the viral video claiming to show attack on women in MP, is actually from Jharkhand and is from 2019.
Result: False
