Fact

Newschecker first ran a keyword search for “Hamas supporters set police officer on fire London”, which did not throw up any credible news reports.

We then ran a reverse image search of keyframes of the video, which led us to this NBC news report, sharing another angle of the incident, dated June 5, 2020, stating, “During a protest in response to the death of Giovanni Lopez, a police officer was set on fire during the demonstration in Jalisco, Mexico.”

“This shocking video shows a cop being set on fire by a person protesting over allegations that the police in Mexico beat a builder to death after he didn’t wear a face mask. The incident was filmed in Guadalajara as locals demonstrated for Giovanni Lopez, 30, who died after he was arrested for an ‘administrative offence’,” read a report published in The Sun on June 5, 2020, adding that the Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, confirmed that the burnt cop was injured in the protest along with five other officers, while 26 people were arrested.

Similar reports can be seen here and here, confirming that the viral video is not related to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
