Newschecker ran a keyword search for “Mahakumbh fire bus stand,” which did not lead us to any news report about such an incident.
We ran a reverse image search of keyframes, which led us to this July 14, 2020 Instagram post, sharing a longer version of the viral video, stating that there was a massive fire on the Cairo-Ismailia highway. “#Egypt: A fire occurred at a petroleum material pipeline on the Ismailia Desert Road in Cairo, nearly 15 fire engines managed to control the fire. At least 12 people were injured, according to the country’s health ministry,” read the post.
We also came across this Global News report on Youtube, dated July 15, 2020, stating that a massive fire broke out in Egypt’s Shuqair-Mostorod crude oil pipeline on Tuesday, injuring at least 12 people, the health ministry said. “Videos circulating on social media showed thick plumes of smoke and burning cars along the side of the road. The pipeline runs along a major highway on the outskirts of Cairo. A spark caused by cars driving along the road set crude oil leaking from the pipe on fire, a petroleum ministry statement said,” read the description. Similar news reports can be seen here, here and here, confirming that the viral video is not from the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela.
