Newschecker first ran a keyword search for “Indian Army” “border posts” & “LoC”, which led us to multiple reports stating that the Pakistan Army had resorted to unprovoked small arms firing across multiple locations along the Line of Control for a fifth straight night, prompting a measured Indian Army response, amid escalating tensions following the Pahalgam terror attacks.
“In a latest ceasefire violation along the India-Pakistan border, the Pakistan Army on Monday night resorted to unprovoked small arms firing at multiple locations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army responded in a measured and effective manner, officials said. The incidents were reported from the Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor sector,” read an India Today report, dated April 29, 2025. Similar reports can be seen here and here, however, none of these reports shared the viral video, nor did they state that the Indian Army destroyed Pakistani border posts. The Indian Army responded to the unprovoked firing in a measured and effective manner, officials reportedly said.
We then ran a reverse image search of keyframes, which led us to the same video shared on May 11, 2023, around two years before the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.
“Heavy shelling at Kashmir Highway as protesters number is increasing. It’s time for people of Pakistan to come out and defend Pakistan. #ReleaseImranKhan,” read the post uploaded by the official X handle of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which was founded by Imran Khan.
“The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) supporters in Islamabad and Rawalpindi took to the streets on Tuesday to protest the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan who was detained on the premises of the judicial complex in the federal capital by a contingent of Rangers,” read a Dawn News report, dated May 10, 2023. A similar BBC report, dated May 9, 2023, states that Khan’s PTI party had called on its supporters to protest and hours after he was detained, violence was reported from cities including Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar, while blocking a highway, which further confirms that the viral claim is false.
